W83L517G is Nuvoton's LPC interface I/O for NB applications. The disk drive adapter functions of W83L517G include a floppy disk drive controller compatible with the industry standard 82077/ 765, data separator, write pre-compensation circuit, decode logic, data rate selection, clock generator, drive interface control logic, and interrupt and DMA logic. W83L517G provides one high-speed serial communication ports (UARTs). The UART includes a 16-byte send/receive FIFO, a programmable baud rate generator, complete modem control capability, and a processor interrupt system. In addition, W83L517G provides IR functions: IrDA 1.0 (SIR for 1.152K bps) and IrDA 1.1 (MIR for 1.152M bps or FIR for 4M bps), TV remote IR, (Consumer IR, supporting NEC, RC-5, extended RC-5, and RECS-80 protocols).
W83L517G supports one PC-compatible printer port (SPP), Bi-directional Printer port (BPP) and also Enhanced Parallel Port (EPP) and Extended Capabilities Port (ECP). Extension FDD Mode and Extension 2FDD Mode are also available through the printer port interface pins.
W83L517G provides a set of flexible I/O control functions to the system designer through a set of General Purpose I/O ports. These GPIO ports may serve as simple I/O or may be individually configured to provide a predefined alternate function. W83L517G is made to fully comply with Microsoft PC98 and PC99 Hardware Design Guide, and meet the requirements of ACPI. W83L517G provides two important interfaces -- “Flash ROM interface and ISA keyboard controller interface”. The Flash ROM interface can support up to 4M legacy flash ROM. The ISA KBC interface can supports legacy KBC such as Mitsubishi H8 and Intel 8xC51. |
